Love Me, Hate Me

September 7, 2009

love me hate me It’s been a long time since I’ve read a sports biography, but Love Me, Hate Me: Barry Bonds and the Making of an Antihero comes highly recommended by a friend.

This “portrait” of Bonds is by former Sports Illustrated writer Jeff Pearlman and talks about how Bonds went from being one of the most respected figures in baseball to one of the most reviled. Pearlman addresses the issues that everyone wants to know about, and doesn’t pull any punches along the way. Did Bonds really have access to the best hgh releasers and other performance-enhancing substances? Or was that whole thing just a smear job by an overzealous media?

This book is now in my “To Buy” queue, and since it’s available for Kindle, I’ll probably order it after I finish The Lost Symbol later this month.
