I’m talking about The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown, which is scheduled to hit bookstores on September 15th. That’s just 9 days away now, and I’m starting to hear people chatter about it more and more. Plus, bookstores are already setting up those big cardboard displays in prominent places to entice readers to either pre-order or buy a copy on the first day of release.
I don’t think there’s any doubt that The Lost Symbol will be on the bestseller list for several weeks or even months. Will it have the staying power of The Da Vinci Code? Or have readers become too jaded by copycats in the past five years to be wowed by these types of clue-driven thrillers?
I for one am hoping for something as fast-paced and exciting as The Da Vinci Code. I know a lot of people criticize Brown’s writing style and dismiss him as a writer of fluff pieces, but whatever. I think his books are highly entertaining, so I can’t wait to see what he has up his sleeve this time!
